The Beach to Basin was started by the local Athletics Club and has been around since 1978.
The Chilltech Beach to Basin is now organised (still owned by the Athletics Club) by Sport Northland and has now become the most popular fun run in Northland attracting thousands of participants young and old.
The Chilltech Beach to Basin is for people who want to get outside, get active and have fun while socialising with their family and friends. Yes, there is a leaderboard and yes there are trophies for placings, but this event is for the masses.
