What it's for

One course, many sheets.

Permit applications

For the city, the park, the police and the road-closure office.

Marshal maps

A sheet for each sector, so every volunteer knows their corners.

Aid-station sheets

Where the station is, how crews get there, and what the course does next.

Course marking

Every turn and crossing, for the crew that puts out the signs.

Every office asks for different things. This is a strong, accurate base map, not a filled-in form.

Area sheets

Frame one area instead of the whole course: the start corral, a turnaround, a neighbourhood your marshals cover. Distance markers that fall off the sheet are left out.

A printed title band

Put a heading across the top, like "DOWNTOWN RACE ZONE", and make the course line Heavy or Extra heavy so it stands out on a small area.

Options

Set it up for the people who read it.

Shape

Fit to course, Letter or A4 (portrait or landscape), square or 16:9. North stays up.

Colors

Five palettes: Basic for photocopies, Warm, Bold for rural courses, Plain for police and marshals, and Primitive for ink lines.

Course line

Six widths from Thin to Extra heavy, in any color.

Markers

Start, finish and your points of interest, each with a shape, a color and its name.

Distance markers

Every 0.5 to 10 miles or kilometres.

Direction

Arrows on the course line or beside it.

Questions

Good to know

Will my permit office accept it?

Every office asks for different things. The map gives you a strong, accurate base with every street named; check what your office needs before you send it.

What if my course changes?

If 80% or more of the new course matches the one you bought, the update is free. If it's a different course, it's a new purchase.

How big can I print it?

It depends on the course. Print details on your map shows the size at 300 and 150 dpi.

Can I remove the OpenStreetMap credit?

No. It is a condition of the map data's licence, so it is part of every high detail map.

How many previews can I make?

15 every 24 hours. Edits to a map you bought do not count.

Can I map one area only?

Yes. Frame an area instead of the whole course, and make one sheet for each sector.
